Five great tips to help you make a great first impression

1. Understand your colours
Your clothes need to work in harmony with the colours of your hair, eyes and skin. Once you know which colours suit you, you’ll know exactly what clothes to buy to make you look your best.

2. Know your body shape
You need to wear styles that flatter your body shape, size and proportions. Not only will you feel more comfortable in your clothes, you’ll also look better, and your confidence will soar!

3. Know the occasion
It is important to wear the right clothes for the right time, place and occasion. However, if your clothes reflect your lifestyle, then you’ll feel good about yourself in any situation.

4. Aim to be fashionable and co-ordinated
Fashion fads come and go, but trends stay for at least five years. The well-dressed person understands the trends, and always invests in clothes that will last for more than one season.

5. Have a firm handshake
Your handshake says a lot about you as a person. An overly strong handshake can say ‘hey, I’m a tough guy’ whereas a weak one can imply you’re a ‘bit of a push over’. A nice firm handshake – not crushing – will help cement a good first impression. Don’t forget to smile while you shake. This will help you gain respect, break down the barriers and make you appear confident and friendly.
